If you had asked me about essential oils one year ago, I wouldn’t have the slightest clue! My mom loves essential oils and swears by them. She recently started to sell them. When I got pregnant, I became very nauseous in my first trimester. My mom recommended putting ginger oil on my belly button and at first I had little interest in doing it. Then, I figured I had nothing to lose, so I tried it! I was never nauseous another day throughout my pregnancy. It was amazing. I definitely recommend trying this. All you have to do is rub ginger essential oil on or around your belly button once a day. I still do it when I have a stomachache and it works like a charm!
Have you had trouble getting a baby to sleep for longer periods of time? Frankie wasn’t a great sleeper at first. So, I tried rubbing lavender oil on his feet and he slept for 6 hours straight. If you are going to do this, make sure to rub fractionated coconut oil on your baby’s feet before applying the lavender oil. Never put essential oils directly on a baby’s skin. I no longer do this because I didn’t want this to be something we had to do every night for the rest of his life. However, I do put lavender oil in my diffuser every night! It helps me sleep as well! If you do look into oils, make sure you buy high quality essential oils such as doTERRA Essential Oils
I gained a lot of weight when I was pregnant. My mom once told me that she immediately went back to her pre-pregnancy clothes after she had her first child. So, I thought that would happen to me. I even had my husband pull out my winter clothes the week before I had my baby! I couldn’t wait to wear my clothes again. I was VERY wrong! Four months later, I am still not wearing all of my clothes. However, I am 5 pounds away from my pre-pregnancy weight and starting to feel good about myself again.
Every mom has favorite products that they use. When I registered for my baby shower, I was so overwhelmed by all of the baby products. I had no idea where to even begin. I searched and searched every product until I was blue in the face. Well, now that I have Frankie, I have my favorite products! Here they are!
*aden + anais burpy bibs- I received one of these as a gift and didn’t think much of it. I assumed it was just another bib! I was definitely wrong about this. I grabbed it out of the basket with the bibs the other day and put it on Frankie. At first, I thought this is silly because he looks like he is ready to get a haircut. Then, I realized that this burpy bib is going to save my life! When I use this bib, I don’t even need to get a burp rag. It works as a burp cloth and bib at once. Genius! It also works for my 4-moth old slobber monster!
You are probably wondering why I am posting this today. There are several hospital bag lists on the web. If you are anything like me, you looked at many lists including the one your own hospital provides and are still stressed out about what to pack.
I packed one duffel bag and it was full. This bag was for my baby and me. My husband packed his own bag the night before we had our baby! I definitely over packed, and I know what I will be taking if we have another baby. Here is my list. Remember that each hospital is different.
*Lip Balm- This is a must! You can’t drink water when you are in labor and you will be thankful for this. Your lips will get very dry! I was even grateful for my cherry flavor lip balm because it was something I could taste!
I never really enjoyed writing. There was nothing that interested me enough to actually take the time to put my thoughts onto paper until I became a mom. Becoming a mom has changed my life in so many ways. I used to thrive on talking to people about being a teacher. That was the one thing I was comfortable and familiar discussing with others. Now, I am a mom, and this was unfamiliar to me because no one knows what it takes until you are one.
Instead of spending my nights lesson planning, I spend my nights playing with my baby, Frankie. I also spend a lot of time researching everything from breastfeeding versus formula feeding to baby toys.
When I was pregnant, everyone had an opinion and gave me advice. The best advice that my husband and I received was to do what is best for you and your baby. I remember this daily as I raise my child.
